Here is the first of my planned 12 shawls with Estonian Lace Patterns (see this blog post for explanation).
The January shawl features a classic twig pattern. This variation also have nupps.
Here is a chart and key for the pattern (repeat in red):
Twig Pattern with Nupps
Yarn used: KnitPicks Gloss Lace, 100 g
Needles: US 6 (4 mm)
How I did it:
- Cast on 91 sts,
- Knit 6 rows, then work the body of the shawl as follows:
- Odd rows: k4, sts 1-3 once, sts 4-14 seven times, sts 15-17 once, k4
- Even rows: k4, p to last 4 sts, k4
- Repeat 8 rows of Chart 52 times or to the desired length
- Knit 6 rows
- Cast off all sts.
You can see that the shawl is pretty long!
The finished size:
16 x 79 inches
or, in metric system:
42 x 200 cm
Happy knitting everyone - I am off to knit the February Shawl!
